Potato and beef platter


700 grams beef

1 potato

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon white sugar

4 dried red chilies

1 scallion

1 piece ginger, sliced

1 star anise

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 black cardamom

1 green pepper


1. Rinse and slice the beef into chunks


2. Drop the beef chunks in a stew pan, pour some cold water in the stew pan, heat the stew pan over high heat, bring to a boil, boil for 5 minutes, take out the beef chunks, rinse, drain


3. Slice the scallion and green pepper


4. Heat a skillet over low heat, pour vegetable oil in the skillet, heat the oil until shimmering, pour white sugar in the skillet, stir until caramelized


5. Drop the beef chunks in the skillet, turn up to medium heat, stir for about 5 minutes, until fragrant


6. Add dried red chilies, black peppers, black cardamom, star anise, and ginger in the skillet, stir until even


7. Pour some hot water in the skillet, until fully submerged, bring to a boil, turn down to medium low heat, stew for 40 minutes


8. Peel and slice the potato into chunks


9. Add the potato in the skillet, season with salt, stew until cooked through


10. Drop the scallion and green pepper in the skillet


11. Stir until even and fragrant


12. Serve
