Braised marbled pork with chestnut


500 grams marbled pork

300 grams chestnut

1 green onion

1 piece ginger

3 garlic cloves

30 grams crystal white sugar

1 star anise

1 cinnamon stick

3 bay leaves

2 dried red chilies

1 tablespoon cooking wine

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon chicken powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons vegetable oil


1. Cube the marbled pork, immerse the marbled pork in boiling water for 5 minutes, take out, rinse, drain, peel the chestnuts, slice the chestnuts in half, slice ginger, garlic cloves, and green onion


2. Heat a stew pan over high heat, pour vegetable oil in the stew pan, drop the crystal white sugar in the stew pan, stir until the crystal white sugar are fully melted and caramelized


3. Drop the marbled pork in the stew pan


4. Stir until fully coated


5. Drop the garlic cloves, ginger, green onion, star anise, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and dried red chilies in the stew pan, stir until even


6. Pour cooking wine in the stew pan


7. Pour soy sauce in the stew pan, stir until even


8. Pour some water in the stew pan, until fully submerged


9. Cover the stew pan with a lid, bring to boil, turn down to low heat, stew for 30 minutes


10. Drop chestnuts in the stew pan, continue to stew for 20 minutes


11. Sprinkle the chicken powder in the stew pan, stir until even


12. Season with salt


13. Turn up to high heat to thicken


14. Serve
